This project was one of a kind. It took us over a year to create and hundreds of thousands of dollars in costs. The amount of research, trial and error, expense, and work involved was extraordinary.
We didn’t do it as a commercial project—obviously, that wouldn’t make sense—but simply because our team wanted to try something never attempted before. It was a learning experience for us, a challenge we set for ourselves to create something we’d never done before, which was challenging in itself.
The project was an unreasonable attempt to create or replicate the ultimate supernatural incense representing the four elements—earth, air, fire, and water—harnessed by a master alchemist through the wind, each element symbolized by the materials of nature that represent it.
There was no better place to do this than Asia. Traveling through Japan, Indonesia, and Hong Kong, we managed to cherry-pick not only the finest materials but also some of the best master incense makers to assist us. No expense was spared in the making of this project; no shortcuts were taken, and no steps were skipped.
We took an obsessively meticulous approach toward the spiritual, numerical, and esoteric aspects of the project. After all, if we’re trying to create the ultimate product through materials, processes, and quality, why not integrate and follow the ethereal aspects of the art itself?
Everything—from the location of the sourced materials to the quantity of materials, the making days, the maturation process, the fermentation, and the package numbers—was meticulously considered.
12 packages in total, which neither we nor anyone else will ever be able to remake or replicate. It’s simply not possible.
Each tube contains around 20 fully handmade incense sticks, which can arguably be described as the rarest and most expensive in the world. There are 4 tubes, each representing one of the four elements and the four directions.
Only 12 people in the world will have the chance to own one of these irreplaceable packages. If this isn't the best-smelling incense ever, I’m not sure what is.
Fire Wind (Double Gold Band)
The Bird of Passion
Sandalwood, herbs, and spices have been used since ancient times as incense for religious and meditation practices, as well as Buddhist ceremonies.
It is considered one of the best materials to calm the mind and help with concentration, creativity, and positivity.
Sandalwood has also been used as a fragrance for products made by the people of Omiya in Japan, as well as a high-quality carving material and incense. Even though sandalwood incense can be made in various ways, this particular kind is considered one of the oldest and most authentic recipes, created by ancient Japanese incense masters. This recipe was used in the royal court and by many historic figures, such as famous samurais and meditation masters.
"Kayo," which means beauty, has been adjusted to feature a deep fragrance that brings out the elegant scent of Laoshan sandalwood from southern India. It is a 100% natural and pure incense, free of synthetics or chemicals.
Mixed in a specific way and fermented for an extra strong, deep scent, the sandalwood used here is over 100 years old, sourced from the heart of the finest trees selected specifically for this kind of incense. This creates one of the highest-quality meditative incenses, which not only enhances the spirit but also calms the mind and spreads an aura of positivity and good energy throughout the space.
We hope you enjoy the deep fragrance of our incense and spend peaceful, fulfilling time in your art, meditation, at your altar, or in your workspace.
Air Wind (Gold with the Perfumist Sticker)
The Dragon of Power
Made from 100% wild sinking kinam/kyara, this is, gram by gram, one of the most expensive and hardest incense we have ever made.
First of all, it’s not easy to find or buy kinam/kyara, and we’re talking about 100% wild, pure natural kinam/kyara—not green or white-harvested or oil-enhanced varieties.
We sourced this from one of the oldest and most respected incense houses in Japan, and it was independently certified. Gram by gram, this incense is worth more than gold.
When the master incense maker heard we were making incense sticks from it, he couldn’t believe his eyes! He said it was his life’s dream to create incense sticks from 100% kinam/kyara without mixing or adding anything to it, as it is almost always blended with other materials. Kinam/kyara is so powerful and potent that typically only 20% to 30% of it is used. But this is 100% kinam/kyara.
He started with a very small amount, and we were hesitant, wondering if it was even enough to make a single incense stick. After three days of work, we tried it, and it was beyond anything we had ever made. The aroma was intoxicating and, quite honestly, otherworldly!
We proceeded to make the rest of the batch, which was enough to make only 120 long, thin sticks or 240 short ones. The amount was barely enough for 20 sticks to cover the 12 total packages we created.
If you want to experience the ultimate kinam/kyara made in the most authentic way by one of the best incense masters, look no further—this is it.
We hope you enjoy the deep fragrance of our incense and spend peaceful, fulfilling time in your art, meditation, at your altar, or in your workspace.
Earth Wind (Single Gold)
The Tiger of Protection
Sandalwood has been used throughout the ages as incense, medicine, and an exotic material for making jewelry and furniture.
This specific 100% pure, 150-year-old Mysore sandalwood was sourced from the oldest trees. These pieces are rarely used to make incense sticks, as they are typically reserved for jewelry and finely crafted Kōdō plates for Japanese ceremonial incense.
We managed to acquire one of the most beautiful pieces and turned it into incense sticks, entirely handmade by a Japanese incense master on the island of Awaji.
We were asked what to add or mix with it, and since we wanted to keep it as pure as possible, we mixed nothing! This incense is made from 90% pure, top-quality Mysore sandalwood with around 10% natural binding material that is scentless
This ensures that each stick retains the purest and most vibrant scent of ancient Mysore sandalwood
The incense was created in an extremely small and limited batch, individually handcrafted
We hope you enjoy the deep fragrance of our incense and spend peaceful, fulfilling time in your art, meditation, at your altar, or in your workspace.
Water Wind (Perfumist Sticker)
The Turtle of Prosperity
Because of its elegant fragrance, it is considered one of the most precious and sacred incenses in Asia, especially in Japan.
This is the original recipe used in the Japanese Imperial Court. The recipe has been passed down from father to son through generations. There are very few incense houses around the world that can make it fluently. The art itself takes years to master—not only in selecting the materials, mixing them, drying them, and finally grinding them into a paste, but also in perfecting the size, shape, and color of the incense sticks. Everything has to be flawless.
Throughout the generations, this specific mix of incense has been believed to have a powerful effect on the mind, increasing concentration and elevating both the mind and spirit. Throughout the ages, it has been used in meditation, the arts, and in matters requiring intense focus.
This blend is also thought to clarify the space by dispelling evil and negative energies, while bringing a positive, beautiful aroma that makes you feel both comfortable and safe.
This is the pinnacle of the incense art, and we have brought it to you directly from the source—no middlemen. Made in Kyoto, Japan, in an extremely small and limited batch, it was handcrafted by a master incense maker who is a good friend of ours and wanted to share this sacred and magical incense of the Water Wind with us and our clients around the world!
To many, this scent is considered the king of fragrant woods, roses, spices, and herbs. It is 100% pure and natural and has been highly valued in the art of incense, Buddhist ceremonies, meditation, and incense-making by courtiers. "Suikaze" has been adjusted to have a refreshing fragrance while retaining the sweetness of the original. This incense is sharp, spicy, sweet, and sour—definitely not for amateurs or first-timers! It has depth, strength, and pungency and requires some scent maturity and understanding to fully appreciate its complex composition. This is a deep, leathery, earthy, and vibrant incense, with an original recipe tracing back over 500 years.
We hope you enjoy the deep fragrance of our incense and spend peaceful, fulfilling time in your art, meditation, at your altar, or in your workspace.
